Job summary

Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) is seeking a Senior Research Nurse to lead day-to-day research nursing operations within its extensive oncology trial network. The role emphasizes mentoring nurses, triaging clinical issues, and ensuring high-quality patient enrollment and protocol adherence across multiple sites.

Candidates should have an Associate Degree (Bachelor’s preferred), an active RN license, and knowledge of medical terminology, GCP, and FDA CFR.

Qualifications

  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • ACRP or CCRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, educate and train nurses in research protocols.
  • Problem-solve and triage clinical issues.
  • Monitor patient enrollment in clinical trials.
  • Identify opportunities to increase patient accrual.
  • Meet with physicians and Research Nurse Manager to assess performance.
  • Communicate performance standards to research nurses.
  • Support enrollment of patients on protocol-driven trials.
  • Ensure patient safety and protocol adherence at all times.

As the Senior** ResearchNurse**youareresponsible forthe day-to-day research nurse operations.

  • You will mentor,educateand train nurses.
  • You will problem-solve and triage clinical issues.

  • You will identify opportunities and developsaction plans as necessary to increase patient accrual.
  • You will meet regularly and as needed with physicians and Research NurseManagerto assess performance.
  • You will communicate to the researchnursesthe overall performance standards and day to day expectations.
  • You will support enrolling patientsontoclinical trials through recruitment,screeningand enrollment of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements.
  • You will ensure the protection of study patients bytimelyadherence to protocol requirements/compliance and usethe protocol as the only tool to screen,treatand follow patients.
  • You will review the study design and inclusion andexclusion criteria with physician and patient.
  • You will documentthe informed consent process accurately and have all parties fully execute the document including the HIPAA Authorization.Completes screening and eligibility,inclusion/exclusionformsand standard enrollment forms.
  • You will ensurethat patient documentation is completed at each clinic visit while in screening.
  • You will ensure that all medications are approved by the registrar prior to initiating treatment to when changing medication regimens, such as crossover studies.
  • You will ensurethat follow-up appointments, scans, or any related procedures are scheduled correctly according to protocol requirements.

You should have for this position:

  • AnAssociate Degree; preferably aBachelor’s Degree
  • RN License
  • Knowledge of medical and research terminology
  • Knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulations and GCP
  • Knowledge of the clinical research processes
  • At least oneyear of oncology experience preferred
  • At least one year of experience in a research setting preferred
  • Research Certification (ACRP or CCRP) Preferred
