Job summary

Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a McKesson subsidiary, seeks a Senior Research Nurse to lead day-to-day research operations, mentor nurses, and drive patient enrollment in oncology clinical trials. You will ensure protocol adherence, training, and issue resolution while coordinating with physicians and the Research Nurse Manager to optimize trial performance and patient safety.

Ideal candidates have an Associate Degree (Bachelor’s preferred), oncology experience, and knowledge of FDA CFR

Qualifications

  • Experience in oncology research; clinical trials knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day research nurse operations and mentor nurses.
  • Support enrolling patients onto clinical trials through recruitment and enrollment.
  • Ensure adherence to protocol requirements and HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate screenings, consent processes, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians and Research Nurse Manager on performance.

As the Senior Research Nurse you are responsible for the day-to-day research nurse operations. You will mentor, educate and train nurses. You will problem‑solve and triage clinical issues. You will monitor patient enrollment. You will identify opportunities and develops action plans as necessary to increase patient accrual. You will meet regularly and as needed with physicians and Research Nurse Manager to assess performance. You will communicate to the research nurses the overall performance standards and day to day expectations. You will support enrolling patients onto clinical trials through recruitment, screening and enrollment of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements. You will ensure the protection of study patients by timely adherence to protocol requirements/compliance and use the protocol as the only tool to screen, treat and follow patients. You will review the study design and inclusion and exclusion criteria with physician and patient. You will document the informed consent process accurately and have all parties fully execute the document including the HIPAA Authorization. Completes screening and eligibility, inclusion/exclusion forms and standard enrollment forms. You will ensure that patient documentation is completed at each clinic visit while in screening. You will ensure that all medications are approved by the registrar prior to initiating treatment to when changing medication regimens, such as crossover studies. You will ensure that follow‑up appointments, scans, or any related procedures are scheduled correctly according to protocol requirements.

You should have for this position: An Associate Degree; preferably a Bachelor’s Degree RN License Knowledge of medical and research terminology Knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulations and GCP Knowledge of the clinical research processes At least one year of oncology experience preferred At least one year of experience in a research setting preferred Research Certification (ACRP or CCRP) Preferred
