PRIMARY PURPOSE

A Registered Nurse (RN) with 2+ years of experience. The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, focusing on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients through the healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition, and employee competencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Graduate of a Registered Nursing program, Bachelor's in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: Must have 2+ years of nursing PCU experience. Prefer experience in an acute care setting.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
  • Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
  • Must have current ACLS/ALS course completion within 90 days of hire or reclassification into the role.
  • Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
  • Provides care for assigned patient population in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical standards.
  • Must be able to perform continuous assessment, consult with team members, and provide patient-centered care.
  • Exercise independent judgment in nursing care.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • May need to communicate via overhead paging system.
  • Ability to provide direction to non-nursing staff, serve as a preceptor, and participate as a Charge Nurse.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct in-service educational programs.
  • Demonstrate patient-centered behaviors and knowledge of nursing standards for specialty care areas.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a patient advocate, maintaining confidentiality, respecting cultural and religious preferences, and fostering positive relationships with patients and staff.
  • Perform patient assessments, recognize condition changes, and implement interventions promptly.
  • Manage adult ICU patients with neurological, pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, or genitourinary conditions, including safe medication administration, IV management, POC monitoring, infection control, and CRRT.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards, and ensure proper documentation of patient care.
