Located in beautiful Northern California, Adventist Health Clear Lake has been a leading healthcare provider in Lake County since 1968. We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access hospital and provide primary and specialty care services at clinics throughout the area to best serve our community. Lake County is home to Clear Lake, California's largest natural freshwater lake, surrounded by charming small towns, beautiful mountains, vineyards, and orchards. This area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with some of the best bass fishing, rural trails for hiking and biking, all the while being only two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento Valley, or Pacific Coast.

Job Summary

Assesses the nutritional status of patients, translates physician-ordered diets to meet individual patient needs, and develops care plans. Provides nutritional care for inpatients and outpatients. Establishes and maintains active communication with patients, physicians, nurses, other dietitians, and the Nutritional Services Staff. Delivers clinical care efficiently and effectively, utilizing a high level of technical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Required
  • Master's Degree: Required, only if eligibility for examination began on or after 1/1/24
  • Three years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Leadership experience: Preferred
  • Dietetic internship or its equivalent: Required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD): Required
  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership: Preferred
Essential Functions
  • Coordinates with clinical staff to create a nutritional plan for patients by assessing their needs. Reviews patient records, assesses the best course of action for nutrition therapy, and documents the plan of care in the clinical record.
  • Identifies potential problems through observation or data analysis and institutes corrective actions. Individualizes care plans to meet patients' personal care, safety, mobility, dietary, and specialized needs.
  • Communicates (verbally, in writing, and via database) with other clinical team members to ensure awareness of each patient's nutritional needs. Communicates any newly identified nutritional risk factors, patient requests for education, or complaints to appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital and departmental policies and regulatory standards at all times.
  • Performs counseling and nutritional health education for patients.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
