Job Description

The primary purpose of the Senior Regional EHS Manager (Bilingual) is to provide leadership and direction to the assigned region of manufacturing locations, support management staff and employee populations so that they are knowledgeable and compliant in the applicable areas of Environmental Health & Safety. Reporting to the Business Unit EHS Director, this position will champion projects and activities to achieve location priorities and company values, and is a key member of the extended corporate EHS team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interact with local team from floor level to Plant Manager, install employee, to General Manager and beyond when company leadership is at the site.
  • Assess and develop local talent, coaching them on techniques, tools and a high ethical mindset necessary to build and maintain strong EHS systems.
  • Ensure local policies and procedures for safe work are developed, implemented and followed at the assigned work location by leading location/area managers and support teams; communicate, promote and practice safe operating practices and procedures to assigned site locations (California, Tennessee, Iowa, Texas and Mexico).
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc…) for assigned locations and groups.
  • Frequent travel in both the US and Mexico for coaching and general inspection to detect existing or potential EHS hazards and determine corrective actions where indicated (<50%+). Candidate must have an up-to-date passport and ability to travel.
  • Ensure mandatory regulatory event reporting (OSHA, EPA, etc…) is completed on time and with the highest integrity, e.g., annual OSHA 300 log, notification of serious accident, hospitalization or death.
  • Monitor and guide assigned plant and install/field service development of corrective action plans to close identified gaps.
  • Serve as an internal auditor within the framework of the company internal EHS auditing system.
  • Analyze and communicate EHS data trends, compliance performance and permitting activity and lead BU group EHS review meetings with BU leadership team(s), EHS Corporate and other applicable higher management levels of the company.
  • Ensure required local systems are in place for environmental, permitting, analytical testing and record‑keeping requirements to be performed as necessary and to maintain compliance.
  • Assist local leaders in developing local procedures, training and leadership to ensure appropriate usage of the Company Corporate EHS Management Database systems (e.g., Origami) by assigned locations and organizations.
  • Monitor and report to BU EHS Director and Operations Leadership on the status and effectiveness of EHS‑related corrective and preventive actions as observed and tracked.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related science field is highly desired; Master’s degree preferred. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, >10 years’ experience within an EHS function will be considered.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in an EHS function within a manufacturing, facilities management and/or research laboratory setting with direct responsibility for EHS activity and experience with regulatory agency interactions (inspections, official written responses, arbitration, etc.).
  • Minimum three years of EHS leadership responsibility.
  • Working knowledge of electrical compliance and standards (NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with DSR – Design Safety Reviews, PSSR – Pre‑startup Safety Review.
  • Experience in developing environmental, occupational safety, employee health, industrial hygiene and related policies that guide the company’s diversified interests.
  • Working knowledge of EHS regulation with a strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong business acumen.
  • Experience in leadership positions and ability to manage complex operations and capital projects.
  • Proficiency with software programs MS Office Suite at intermediate level (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and EHS Management System (such as Origami or a similar online portal).
  • Initiate, establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients, communicating and influencing effectively at multiple levels of the organization to achieve results.
  • Financial responsibilities include managing assigned operating budgets and collaborating with assigned location/organization leader for budget/spend approvals.
  • This is a remote position, requiring strong home‑internet access capabilities, an adequate/safe home office location and reasonable (~1 hr) access to an airport with convenient flight availability.
  • Position may occasionally require moderate physical work and wearing of personal protective equipment necessary for auditing and/or risk assessment/characterization work in manufacturing operations and construction environments.
  • Preference for applicable EHS‑related professional certifications (ASP, CSP, IHIT, CIH, CHMM, etc.).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred.
