An established industry player is seeking a Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage and optimize their RHEL environments. A. SUMMARY
The AOC is seeking proposals from prospective Offerors to provide one (1) Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator consultant. The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the AOC’s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
Offeror may propose no more than one (1) resource. Offeror shall propose resource(s) they have the right to represent. If multiple Offerors propose the same resource(s), the AOC reserves the right to investigate and confirm the representation of proposed resources and reject any proposals where representation cannot be confirmed, including resources who signed multiple Attachment O – Resource Acknowledgments.
B. OFFEROR RESOURCE QUALIFICATIONS
1. The Offeror shall propose a resource that meets the following minimum qualifications:
a. Bachelor’s degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field (as determined by the AOC).
b. Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator.
(1) Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include the resource’s valid certification number.
2. The AOC prefers the Offeror’s proposed resource to have the following qualifications:
a. Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
b. Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
c. Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.
C. SCOPE OF WORK
1. Offeror proposed resource shall be responsible for:
a. Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
b. Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
c. Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
d. Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
e. Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other RHEL ecosystem tools.
f. Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
g. Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
h. Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
i. Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
j. Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
k. Setting up Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
l. Configuring cron jobs for systems and applications.
D. OFFEROR RESOURCE(S) SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & CAPABILITIES
1. Offeror shall propose a resource possessing the following preferred skills, experience, and capabilities:
a. Experience with:
(1) Working in complex networked system environments with strong networking.
(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the following applications:
i. Oracle WebLogic Servers
ii. Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
iii. vSphere hosted RHEL Servers
iv. Rubrik backup systems
v. Elastic Search
vi. Oracle OBI
(4) Red Hat performance tuning.
(5) Load balancing, partitioning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.
(6) Working in environments requiring 24/7 system availability.
(7) Red Hat Support.
(8) Electronic Imaging Support.
b. Ability to:
(1) Work effectively in a team environment.
(2) Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.
(3) Demonstrate leadership skills.
(4) Interface with users and helpdesk for support.
(5) Provide backup/recovery and networking methodologies.
(6) Troubleshoot at OS, database, and application levels.
c. Knowledge of:
(1) Red Hat administration including configuration and tuning.
