Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Sr. Reconditioning Associate in Frederick, MD to ensure vehicles meet quality standards. Working in a modern, climate-controlled shop, you will perform paint preparation, masking, sanding, and refinishing, and may support related roles as needed.

You’ll follow CarMax EH&S guidelines, maintain equipment, and read and transcribe data accurately in a fast-paced environment. Respirator use is required; strong teamwork and initiative are expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of New Associate Orientation Training – Operations
• Accountability to Associate 1 Competency Model
• CarMax timekeeping systems training for hourly associates
• Meet Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II Standards
• Achieve workstation certifications for relevant roles
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately

Responsibilities

• Perform expert body repairs, including masking, sanding, and grinding
• Apply primer and refinish paint surfaces to meet CarMax standards
• Remove and replace parts as needed for cosmetic and structural integrity
• Repair plastic and substrate damage with precision
• Conduct post-paint refinishing, defect correction, and maintain equipment
• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external partners
• Follow EH&S requirements and keep a clean, orderly work area
