Job summary

MillenniumSoft Inc. in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Sr. R&D Technician for a 6+ month contract. The role supports engineers on product development, builds prototypes, and analyzes data. Must have hands-on test equipment experience, be proficient in Word/Excel, and communicate effectively.

Onsite work hours are 8AM-4PM, with a focus on safe, efficient practices and collaboration within the Systems Engineering team. Strong documentation and schematic-reading skills are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensures work is performed safely and efficiently following standard practices.
• Gathers, formats, and analyzes technical data and test results.
• Prepares reports and summaries including quantitative analysis.
• Scopes equipment for use and completes qualifications.
• Notifies manager of factors that may affect setup.
• Develops prototype processes and test set-ups.
• Supports characterization and testing of prototype systems.
• Produces engineering documents, reports and drawings.
• Works from schematics and written or verbal instructions.
• Performs duties in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.

The Sr. R&D Technician is responsible for assisting an engineer or engineering team with product development projects and finding solutions to routine technical problems. R&D Technician works in close contact with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other engineers in the Systems Engineering team.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
• Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.
• Ensures that work is carried out in an efficient and safe manner, following standard practices.
• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
• Prepares reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis.
• Scope equipment for use and complete qualifications
• Notifies manager upon recognition of factors that may affect project or experimental setup
• Develops prototype processes and test set-ups
• Supports characterization and testing of prototype and pilot systems
• Produces engineering document, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics).
• Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
• Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.

Qualifications Knowledge And Skills

• Hands-on experience with test equipment
• Familiarity with electronics prototyping, including reading schematics, soldering, and rework
• Experience using basic mechanical tools
• Basic knowledge of data acquisition
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Effective communication skills; written and verbal
• Well organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks
• Physically able to lift up to 30lbs
• Proficiency in the English Language
