Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specs.
  • Perform precise measurements with micrometers, calipers, and inspection tools.
  • Monitor processes to ensure tolerances and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and equipment.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to design and fabricate parts.
  • Document work and maintain accurate production records.
  • Conduct experiments and tests per established protocols.
  • Collect/analyze data and prepare results reports.
  • Propose process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new technologies.
  • Maintain records of experiments, data, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machinist to join our R&D Applications team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating and programming CNC machines, as well as manual machining equipment, to produce high-quality metal components that meet exact specifications. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. You will report directly to our Senior R&D Manager and will work out of Spokane Valley, WA. In this role, you will impact the development of cutting-edge technologies and solutions, ensuring that our R&D projects are executed on schedule.

The annual base salary range for this position is $59,000 - 82,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate and maintain advanced machining equipment including CNC and manual machines, ensuring high-quality production of prototypes and components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools.
  • Monitor machining processes to ensure compliance with tolerance and quality standards.

Qualifications
  • Eight years of experience machining metal parts within a technology or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of machining processes and tools.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machines, manual lathes, manual mills, and other advanced machining equipment.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM and SolidWorks software for design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with various metals (steel, copper, aluminum, titanium, tantalum, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
