Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a Sr R&D/Product Development Engineer to support the E-mobility product development team. You will tackle high voltage terminal and connector projects and guide solutions toward successful production, working as part of a Chinese product launch team to deliver manufacturing-ready designs.

You will collaborate with global resources and suppliers to meet TE's technical, quality, and cost objectives, while contributing to new product launches and manufacturing ramp

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; mechanical or electrical preferred.
• 3-5 years minimum product design/development experience.
• Fluent in Chinese and English.
• Automotive terminal and connector design/manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conceive ideas for new hybrid and electric vehicle connectivity products and bring them to practice.
• Gather voice of customer and develop product solutions with global manufacturing resources and suppliers.
• Adapt existing designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost improvements.
• Submit intellectual property information according to TE policy.
• Conduct feasibility studies and define testing requirements.
• Create product documentation including solid models, drawings, specs, DFMEAs, tolerances, and test plans.

Job Overview

As a Product Development Engineer II in TE Connectivity's E-mobility Product Development Team, you will help enable our customers to flourish in the fast-changing electric vehicle market. You will tackle challenging high voltage terminal and connector projects and utilize technical tools to guide innovative solutions toward success. You will be a foundational team member mainly of Chinese product launch team challenged to deliver manufacturing ready designs through to production.

Job Requirements

• Conceiving ideas for new hybrid and electric vehicle connectivity products and introducing them into practice.
• Gathering voice of customer and developing product solutions while working closely with global manufacturing resources and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.
• Adapting and reconfiguring existing product designs for performance enhancements, manufacturability improvements, and cost reduction efforts.
• Submitting intellectual property information to legal according to policy
• Conducting feasibility studies and communicating product testing requirements
• Creating all required product documentation including, but not limited to, solid models, drawings, product and application specifications, DFMEAs, tolerance analysis, and test plans & reports.
• Maintaining engineering control of product related documentation via the engineering change system.
• Directing and supporting detailed product design, prototype fabrication, testing, and manufacturing ramp.
• Working closely with the new product launch teams and the final manufacturing location to ensure smooth launch of products into the production facility.

What Your Background Should Look Like

• BS in Engineering Required, preferred Mechanical or Electrical
• 3-5 years minimum of product design/development experience
• Fluent in Chinese and English languages
• Automotive terminal and connector design and manufacturing experience preferred
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly design principles
• Familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicle architectures and connectivity is a plus
• Proficient in technical tools such as 3D CAD (PTC Creo preferred), CAE (ANSYS preferred), DoE, FMEA, and QFD
• Basic problem-solving skills (Fishbone, 5 Why Analysis, etc.)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
• Ability to manage multiple products/projects with attention to detail
• Periodic travel is required depending on project needs, especially to Mexico and United States
