Job summary

Northwest Bancshares is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst II to design, develop, and maintain complex financial models used across loan and deposit lifecycles. You will lead project work streams, collaborate with model owners, and interact with regulators to ensure robust validation and governance.

Ideal candidates possess 6–8 years in financial institutions or consulting, with strong Python/R skills, SQL/SAS, and experience in risk, stress testing, or machine learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in a quantitative field (physics, math, statistics, economics or similar).
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and model development.
  • Experience with SQL/SAS/Java and at least one of C/C++ or Julia.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain complex financial models for loss forecasting, pricing, and portfolio optimization.
  • Lead working groups and collaborate with model owners, reviewers, and regulators.
  • Translate model outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Develop data environments to support quantitative activities and communicate results clearly.

OH0713 NW Bancshares HQ, PA0258 BellevueJob DescriptionThe Senior Quantitative Analyst II is responsible for contributing to and managing large projects related to the support, development, and maintenance of complex financial models used throughout the loan and deposit product lifecycle. These models could be rules-based or developed with more advanced statistical, mathematical, econometric, machine learning, or artificial intelligence techniques. This position is also responsible for developing quantitative tools used in the areas of pricing, profitability, and product strategy.Essential Functions• Design, Develop, Implement, Maintain, and Execute complex financial models used for loss forecasting, scenario and stress testing, originations & collections, pricing, and portfolio optimization for retail, consumer, and commercial assets• Act as an individual contributor and leader of working groups• Use Python or R for data consumption, aggregation, analysis, and model development• Utilize Power BI to develop portfolio analytics and communicate with the line-of-business and operations partners• Utilize Microsoft Office products for analysis, documentation, and presentation• Communicate with line-of-business and operations partners to identify needs and develop requirements• Work with Model Owners to engage with and satisfy independent reviewers, auditors, validators, and regulators• Participate in the research, design, and implementation of new financial products and portfolio strategies• Evaluate model output, summarize, and articulate results to stakeholders and senior management• Develop data environment to support needs of all quantitative activities• Review academic and industry research, present summaries to partners and senior leadership, and suggest practical applicationsAdditional Essential Functions• Ensure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations• Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency• Work as part of a team• Work with on-site equipmentWhat You Bring to the Team• Recommend improvements to procedures• Minimize departmental non payroll costs• Recommend customer service enhancementsSafety and Health for those without supervisory duties• Abide by the rules of the safety and loss prevention program• Perform work tasks in a safe manner• Report any and all injuries to supervisor• Know what to do in case of an emergencyQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
