Job summary

Annapurna Labs (AWS) seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer to join the Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability team in Seattle. You will design infrastructure technologies, lead reliability tests and collaborate with cross‑functional peers to improve product robustness.

You will develop test strategies, perform reliability predictions, qualify components, and coordinate with vendors/ODMs to enforce reliability standards across server hardware. Strong leadership and problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Reliability Engineering.
  • 7+ years of Reliability Engineering work experience with server compute platforms or high‑tech hardware.
  • Preferred: Master's degree or higher in related engineering fields.

Responsibilities

  • Define reliability tests to be implemented during manufacturing.
  • Drive component manufacturing process improvements to address reliability issues.
  • Perform reliability prediction of failure mechanisms for products under development and in the field.
  • Develop and execute qualification test plans for critical components.
  • Monitor manufacturing quality trends and escalation issues.
  • Collaborate with multiple vendors and ODMs to standardize reliability expectations.
  • Lead failure analysis for quality and reliability issues and field failures (>30 days).

The Annapurna AI Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability (MQR) Team is part of AWS Annapurna Labs focused on Machine Learning products that designs cutting AI platforms for the world’s largest Cloud Services provider. As a Senior Reliability Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design infrastructure technologies. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test in manufacturing. A successful candidate will be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will:



  • Be responsible for the test validation of future technologies.

  • Drive manufacturing process improvements to address reliability issues and concerns.

  • You will have a fundamental understanding of Reliability statistics/Reliability tests and/or solid understanding of computer systems to influence design for reliability.

  • Lead identifying and validating product/component risks and work with design teams to mitigate them and define the test methodology and test coverage to assure product reliability.

  • Deep-dive in technologies aligned with product roadmap.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.

  • Perform Reliability prediction of failure mechanisms, products under development and products in the field.

  • Working with multiple vendors and ODMs to standardize component manufacturing and reliability expectations.

About The Team

Annapurna Labs is a wholly owned subsidiary of AWS, focused on developing custom silicon and servers including the Nitro, Graviton, Inferentia, and Trainium families of processors.


Machine Learning Annapurna (MLA) functions as a vertically integrated team including software, firmware, hardware, and silicon design in a single organization.


We are the Annapurna AI Servers and Systems organization under MLA focused on Hardware Development, Software Development, Fleet Ops Systems, and Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability.


This position is in the Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability team.



Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Reliability Engineering, or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Reliability Engineering

  • 7+ years of Reliability Engineering work experience with server compute platforms or on high-tech hardware



Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Reliability Engineering, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Reliability Engineering

  • Experience in server technologies such as, thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity

  • Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up

  • Experience demonstrating problem solving and root cause analysis

  • Experience working with global teams and diverse partners

  • Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability

  • Demonstrated ability to uncover systemic issues prior to NPI

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals

  • Ability to influence development teams, procurement and external partners

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
