Introduction

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Parts Inspector position. This position is a contract to direct role that is fully onsite in Middletown, CT 06457.

Schedule: 1st shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM M-F.

Parts Inspector Responsibilities:

• Work under the general direction of Quality Management with minimal supervision.
• Perform dimensional and visual inspection of complex in-process and completed parts, including cast, molded, and fabricated items.
• Work to tight tolerances of .0001 or more, using inspection equipment such as microscopes, coordinate measuring machines, rotary tables, and sine plates.
• Interpret and inspect to engineering drawings, specifications, and work documents, including functional testing, dimensional configuration, hardness, surface roughness, visual appearance, and operation completion; record results and complete paperwork.
• Report discrepancies or defects and coordinate with engineers and customer inspectors as needed.
• Plot measurements on control charts and interpret sampling plans.
• Assist in process correction recommendations to reduce defects.
• Guide lower-level inspectors and maintain certification documentation.
• Contribute to process improvement activities.

Requirements:

• Competent in reading and interpreting detailed drawings, specifications, and work documents.
• Basic understanding of GD&T, including true position, perpendicularity, parallelism, and flatness.
• Knowledge of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, go/no-go gauges, visual comparators, drop indicators, and height gauges.
• Understanding of functional gaging, hardness testing, surface roughness, and visual inspection requirements.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and US Person status.

Nice to Have:

• Ability to read and interpret complex detailed drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T.
• Basic knowledge of CMM technology.
• Experience with FAI requirements.
• Understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.
• Familiarity with JSTD-001 requirements.
