Curtiss-Wright Corporation is seeking a Sr. Quality Inspector for their Round Rock facility. The ideal candidate will inspect and verify materials in accordance with rigorous quality standards across various industries, engage in detailed inspections and testing, and maintain thorough documentation to support compliance. This role requires effective communication and a strong commitment to quality assurance in manufacturing processes.
We’re hiring a Sr. Quality Inspector at our Round Rock, TX facility! Join our quality team to inspect and test materials, components, and finished products, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for the nuclear, aerospace, and oil & gas industries.
Receiving Inspection – Inspect and test material received.
In-Process/Final Inspections - Check in-process work against work order to verify proper materials, assembly, and tolerances.
Demonstrate proficiency the use of or the ability to learn to use or perform:
Visual inspection
Pin gages, thread gages, gage blocks, etc.
Microscope
Boroscope
Height gage
Optical comparator
Surface plate measurements
Calipers
Resistance testing (multimeter)
Insulation resistance (IR) testing (megohmmeter)
Dielectric testing
XRF
FTIR
Hydrostatic testing
Hardness testing
Pull testing
Verify that materials meet specifications (purchase orders, customer orders, customer requirements, etc.).
Create non-conforming report (NCR) for rejected material, and initiate return process of unapproved material.
Maintain records and logs as required for department record keeping.
Prepare accurate and professional inspection reports for both internal and external customers.
Read and interpret blueprints to ANSI-Y14.5 (GD&T), read schematics, engineering drawings, materials lists, inspection standards and other specification documentation to determine dimensions, tolerance specifications and other Quality compliance requirements.
What You Bring:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must pass a standard eye examination. Far vision: 20/40 or better. Near vision: Jaeger type 1 20/25. Color perception: average or normal (4 of 6 responses on Titmus, B+L, or American Optical testing machine or a satisfactory response (1) when tested with an Ishihara or Pseudoisochromatic plate). Corrected vision acceptable.
Must able to work overtime and weekends.
Physical requirements may include lifting to 50 pounds.
Effective writing skills for inspection reports and related documents and to communicate problems concerning dimensions and materials used for manufacturing of the product to Engineering, Machine Shop and Purchasing personnel.
Lives the “continuous improvement” philosophy; develops and adopts new ideas and concepts
Desired requirements:
Ability to run a CMM.
ASQ Certification preferred such as:
CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) and/or
CQT (Certified Quality Technician)
Able to apply advanced mathematical concepts including standard shop math, trigonometry and algebra and to apply mathematical operations to dimensional inspection requirements. This includes the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; to use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; to compute rates, ratios, and percents; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
