Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Virginia is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer to ensure transformer products meet high safety, reliability, and performance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related).
  • 5+ years in quality control or quality assurance in manufacturing.
  • Experience with transformer manufacturing operations and related quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of QMS, ISO 9001, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem solving.
  • Field experience with transformer installation, service or testing is desirable.
  • ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans and specifications for transformer manufacturing.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead and support internal and external quality audits for compliance.
  • Partner with engineering, production, supply chain and field teams to embed quality requirements.
  • Oversee inspection and testing activities including first articles and final verification.
  • Manage non-conformance processes and disposition decisions.
  • Coach teams on quality tools and continuous improvement methods.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and root cause analysis to improve performance.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans, procedures, and product specifications for transformer manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve product performance.
  • Lead and support internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, production, supply chain, and field teams to embed quality requirements into products and processes.
  • Oversee inspection and testing activities, including first article inspections, in-process checks, and final product verification.
  • Manage non-conformance processes, material review activities, and product disposition decisions.
  • Coach and mentor team members on quality tools, best practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and root cause analysis initiatives to improve manufacturing performance, field reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Your Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related technical discipline).
  • 5+ years of quality control or quality assurance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting transformer manufacturing operations and knowledge of transformer products, processes, and quality requirements preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO 9001, and quality methodologies including FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem solving.
  • Field experience or practical knowledge related to transformer installation, service, testing, or customer support is highly desirable.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt certification is a plus.
