OVERVIEW
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to support our Pet Supply Chain Manufacturing sites as we transition to digital data, ensuring our product portfolio is designed for our customers. The ideal candidate will oversee the process of initiating new analytical technologies on our manufacturing lines by coordinating cross-functional resources across Food Safety & Quality, Engineering, Research & Development, External Vendors, and the digital team. This team will ensure all resources, processes, and maintenance programs are in place for the startup and ongoing support of KPI metrics as part of the overall analytical program. Additionally, this role provides guidance on technical troubleshooting and future improvement opportunities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Propose ideas and solutions for integrating PAT (Process Analytical Technology) into manufacturing sites.
- Collaborate with ITQ (Innovation, Technology & Quality) to implement successful PAT strategies, including experimenting with inline analytical methods to enable faster decision-making and cost reduction.
- Partner with Blue and ITQ digital teams to transform current analytical practices.
- Lead digital support for quality with cross-functional teams including FSQ, Engineering, R&D, Vendors, and Global Knowledge teams.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple projects across different manufacturing sites and pet platforms.
- Develop success metrics and milestones for projects in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., capacity, efficiency, KPI, sampling plan).
- Provide training and coaching to manufacturing leads on NIR/FTIR and other inline technologies, including creating training content and videos.
- Establish and maintain calibration and verification programs for inline and offline instruments against primary methods.
- Build external partnerships to incorporate industry insights into ITQ.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Food Engineering, or related fields with 5+ years of relevant experience in Food Quality or Analytical Methods.
- Ability to develop strategic short- and long-term technology plans.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines, and to form short-term teams.
- Understanding of lab operations, metrics, and maintenance essentials.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for optimal placement and use of inline analytical instruments.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in gauge R&R studies within real-time manufacturing.
- Knowledge of sampling techniques and challenges such as temperature and moisture variations.
- Proficiency in statistics and statistical process control.
- Understanding of Analytical Quality Assurance programs, including secondary method maintenance and data analysis.
- Familiarity with HACCP and cGMP standards for product safety and quality documentation.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $91,900 - $138,000 annually. At General Mills, we aim to ensure each employee's pay reflects their experience, performance, and skills. Compensation may vary based on education, skills, experience, certifications, and other factors.
