Globant is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Python) to design, build, and ship production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on delivery, owning end-to-end data and AI feature releases and guiding workstreams from design through production.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across squads, and ensure reliable, scalable solutions using Spark, Airflow, Databricks, and LangChain in polyglot environments.

Formación

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of data engineering experience, leading tech workstreams and mentoring engineers.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Ability to work in polyglot environments (Scala, Java).
• Experience with Agentic AI, Generative AI, ML, BI; knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt design, production outputs.

This role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, including owning end-to-end data and AI feature releases, mentoring junior engineers, and guiding technical workstreams from design through production.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and deliver production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients
• Lead technical workstreams and coordinate execution across delivery phases
• Mentor junior engineers to help strengthen engineering practices and team execution
• Own end-to-end delivery of data and AI features, from implementation decisions to production outcomes

Key skills and requirements

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering, including leading technical workstreams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving adoption of software engineering best practices within a team
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL
• Ability to work in polyglot environments (Scala, Java) when required by client enterprise systems
• Strong experience building Agentic AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence systems, including:
  • Prompt design
  • Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
  • Embeddings
  • Vector databases
  • Context construction
  • Output handling in production workflows
• Hands-on experience with modern data and AI frameworks such as Spark, LangChain, Databricks, Dask, Airflow, Dagster, and Kedro
• Ability to lead AI feature implementation end to end, with sound judgment across:
  • Model behavior
  • Evaluation
  • Reliability
  • Guardrails
  • Trade-offs between quality, latency, and cost
• Deep knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps, including CI/CD for data workflows and automated agent evaluation (LangSmith, Opik, Langfuse)
• Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform) across AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Experience implementing data security and governance controls, including managing PII/PHI, authentication, and RBAC
• Exceptional time management and the ability to own technical workstreams autonomously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local office language
• Willingness to travel as required

Preferred qualifications

• Experience using coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
