Role Summary

The Rivian Indirect Procurement team is looking for highly motivated, independent and exceptional IT Senior Purchasing Manager to bring Rivian's products to life. In this role, the IT Senior Purchasing Manager (IT Software) will be responsible for sourcing and managing Software, and Software as a Service-related suppliers. As the IT Senior Purchasing Manager, you will oversee all commercial aspects of new business awards and renewals, present to Senior Leadership, negotiate software licensing agreements, and foster strong supplier and internal relationships. You will conduct spend analysis and collaborate closely with stakeholders to regularly evaluate the performance of software solutions and suppliers to ensure they continue to meet business needs. Additionally, you will ensure that Rivian meets its cost targets while suppliers adhere to our aggressive timelines. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This role reports to the Manager of IT Software within the Indirect Procurement Organization.


Responsibilities

  • Lead Software (on-prem & SaaS) sourcing projects, developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing RFx processes, and presenting recommendations, including award nominations and sourcing strategies, to senior leadership for approval.

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the software market.

  • Negotiate software licensing agreements (on-prem & SaaS) in accordance with industry standards and minimal support from the legal team.

  • Execute the strategic sourcing (7-step) process including prospective supplier identification, RFx execution, capability assessment, comprehensive bid analysis, contract negotiation and execution, etc.

  • Operate autonomously to support business stakeholders with new purchases, renewals and amendments against aggressive timelines.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to achieve cost savings within IT Software (on-prem & SaaS).

  • Cost savings achieved through effective negotiation and sourcing strategies shall be tracked and reported in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and open communication.

  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.

  • Conduct regular supplier reviews and audits to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all purchases, supplier communications, and related documentation, including software agreement and expirations dates.

  • All purchasing activities shall comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, as well as relevant Information Technology procurement regulations and best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience performing strategic sourcing, cost analysis, negotiations and contract negotiations in indirect procurement.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on resolving Information Technology-related procurement challenges.

  • Previous ERP systems and purchase order processing experience - Coupa preferred.

  • Previous Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system experience - Ironclad preferred.

  • Understanding of contract terms and conditions, including software licenses, SLAs, and Information Technology-specific legal considerations.

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with a focus on minimizing disruptions to Information Technology operations.

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and responsiveness in addressing critical Information Technology needs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.

  • A high level of integrity and ethical conduct, especially in handling sensitive information.

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS, ITIL) is considered advantageous.


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Illinois/Michigan Based Applicants: $98,500 - $123,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Southern California Based Applicants: $107,800 - $134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Northern California Based Applicants: $117,200 - $146,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
