Job summary

DRB HOMES is seeking a cost estimator for new home construction to develop and maintain accurate budgets and estimates. You will review contracts, prepare bids, and coordinate with trade partners to ensure projects meet scope, quality, and cost objectives.

The role requires knowledge of the residential building process, strong Excel skills, and experience with Newstar or similar purchasing software. A high school diploma is required, with a college degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of Newstar purchasing software is a plus.
• Detail oriented and organized; able to multi-task and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review new home sales contracts and prepare construction estimates.
• Maintain construction budgets and ensure compliance with objectives.
• Prepare bid packages and submit to trade partners; take-offs for materials.
• Conduct field visits to verify quantities and waste.
• Enter trade contract data into Newstar and manage contract files.

JOB PURPOSE:To develop and maintain cost effective new home construction estimates and supporting budgets. Select and employ quality contactors in alignment with department and budget objectives.Duties and ResponsibilitiesReviews new home sales contracts and creates construction estimatesMaintains construction budgets and ensures compliancePrepares bid packages and submits to current trade partners, as well as prospective trade partnersPrepares take-offs for materials needed (lumber, trim, roofing, siding, etc…)Conducts field visits to verify material ordered is not being wastedAssists Purchasing Manager with new community set up in Newstar (Purchasing software)Processes variance purchase ordersWorks with the Purchasing Manager and Community Builders to maintain scopes of workManages the Trade Partners and their contract files (ensuring current pricing , scope of work, contract, etc… is signed by all Trades)Enters trade contract data into NewstarOther duties as apparent or assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge and SkillsProficiency in MS Office software applications, i.e. MS ExcelKnowledge of Newstar purchasing software is a plusDetail oriented and organizedAbility to multi-task and establish prioritiesKnowledge of new home construction process is requiredValid driver’s licenseEducation and Work ExperienceHigh School Diploma required, college degree preferred OR3-5 years of residential homebuilding or estimating experience OREquivalent combination of education and/or work experience
