Senior Project Manager, Traffic Engineering

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager to support and grow its Houston traffic and transportation practice.
This position will manage traffic engineering projects for private developers, corporations and institutional clients. The ideal candidate combines strong technical traffic engineering experience with project management, staff leadership and client-development capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage traffic and parking studies, transportation-planning studies and traffic-signal or roadway-design projects
- Lead the planning and permitting of traffic, transportation, land-development and infrastructure projects
- Perform and oversee traffic-impact studies, parking studies, traffic-signal warrants, driveway and access design and traffic-signal design
- Evaluate preliminary data to determine project feasibility
- Prepare and review reports, specifications, plans and technical documentation
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, staffing and deadlines
- Prepare progress reports, change orders, project billings and invoices
- Coordinate with clients, developers, permitting agencies, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Develop new client relationships and expand work with existing accounts
- Prepare proposals and participate in client presentations and business-development meetings
- Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff
- Support recruiting, interviewing and the continued growth of the traffic engineering team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Master’s degree in Traffic or Transportation Engineering is a plus
- Active Professional Engineer license required
- At least 10 years of traffic engineering or transportation-planning experience
- Experience with traffic-impact studies, signal warrants, parking studies, driveway design and traffic-signal design
- Familiarity with state permitting requirements and DOT guidelines for traffic-impact analysis and highway design
- Experience managing multiple clients, projects, budgets and schedules
- Strong client-development and relationship-management capabilities
- AutoCAD or MicroStation experience is a plusStrong written, verbal and public-speaking skills
- Public testimony experience is preferred
- Ability to lead, coach and develop engineering staff
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for meetings and site visits
- Ability to travel occasionally and participate in fieldwork
