Job summary

  • Prepare cost reports, monitor costs weekly, and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental rules.
  • Prepare and assemble shop drawings and submittals; attend progress meetings.

Job description

The Sr. Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of environmental construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with project goals. This role manages subcontractors, supervises field operations, monitors budgets and schedules, and facilitates communication across stakeholders. The manager is responsible for resolving workforce issues, maintaining quality control, preparing cost reports and billing, and supporting project documentation from initiation to closeout. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to travel and interpret complex technical specifications

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate specifications to plan procedures, starting and completion times, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Procure subcontractors, tools, equipment, and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Work with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adheres to construction schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Conduct construction activities within federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations.
  • Prepare job cost reports, monitor job cost weekly, and analyze specific cost items with the field superintendent.
  • Prepare project billings and ensure timely payments, following up on outstanding accounts and pushing for payment.
  • Prepare and assemble shop drawings and submittals.
  • Attend scheduled progress meetings with the field superintendent or job foreman.
  • Schedule delivery of materials and equipment with the field superintendent.
  • Assist the field superintendent with labor projections and scheduling.
  • Prepare required reports with an explanation of any deviations when actual job costs are not in line with estimated job cost reports.
  • Initiate and prepare all correspondence that might be required between other trades, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and owners.
  • Document job delays, problems, and conflicts.
  • Initiate and prepare change order requests.
  • Assist in preparing final project paperwork, including maintenance and operating manuals, warranty letters, lien waivers, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current driver's license; state HVAC/Plumbing license a plus.
  • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Communicates strategy, budget, goals, and expectations to staff and ensures alignment and consistent SPC practices across the project.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to Assistant Project Managers/Project Managers, represents their interests inside the company, and ensures they are provided with the required support and resources to be successful. Establishes individual as well as group accountabilities and goals used for the development of performance.
