Job summary

PerLectric, Inc. is seeking a project cost estimator with strong construction management experience in Virginia.

The role involves cost estimating, progress budgeting, change order pricing, and forecasting while coordinating with superintendents and subcontractors to keep projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has an engineering background, at least four years in construction management or estimating, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Four years of construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with standards, budget, and schedule.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise project management functions (scheduling, engineering, material control) and provide day‑to‑day direction of onsite staff.
  • Investigate situations with potential project impacts, mitigate where possible, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Work closely with on‑site foremen and general foreman to supervise craft employees.
  • Negotiate change order pricing and manage change order approvals per project.
  • Ensure company safety initiatives are followed by all onsite employees; investigate and correct safety incidents.

Job Summary

Responsible for cost estimating, progress budgeting, change order pricing, cost forecasting including monthly projections. Managing project hours and working with job superintendents or foreman if adjustments are needed. Interacting with general contractors and subcontractors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Four years of construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the electrical construction industry.
Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with standards, budget, and schedule, including interfacing with client representatives and other contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise project management functions (scheduling, engineering, material control) and provide day‑to‑day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.
  • Investigate situations with potential project impacts, mitigate wherever possible, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Work closely with on‑site foremen and general foreman to supervise craft employees.
  • Work closely with the project management team to supervise the work of other contractors as required by the contract.
  • Provide day‑to‑day direction of onsite administrative staff or other project managers if required.
  • Provide technical assistance, including interpretation of drawings and recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
  • Initiate and maintain additional work estimating and issuance of change orders, reviewing all changes submitted for accuracy of scope.
  • Negotiate change order pricing and manage the change order approvals per project.
  • Be responsible for contractual performance of the project.
  • Ensure company safety initiatives are followed by all onsite employees; investigate, report, and correct any safety‑related incidents.
  • Position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to drive.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
