Job summary

Moog is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Test Equipment for onsite work in the Buffalo, NY area. You will design and develop hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic test hardware for Moog’s products across military, commercial, and space programs.

Responsibilities include budgets, trade studies, proposal writing, and coordinating cross-functional teams. Requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and 5+ years in the field, plus ability to obtain a U.S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• 3 years of leading technical projects or technical initiatives.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Experience in design, analysis, development and production of complex electromechanical hardware.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and monitor engineering project budgets and schedules.
• Validate conceptual problem solutions via trade studies and analyses.
• Prepare proposal designs, cost estimates, and write the technical volume.
• Coordinate and support the assembly of test equipment.
• Mentor younger engineers and collaborate with program teams.
• Provide design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture and interface definitions.
• Lead the design process within Moog’s program scope.

Job Title: Sr Project Engineer, Test Equipment
Reporting To: Project Engineering Manager
Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY

As a Senior Project Engineer, Test Equipment in our Space & Defense Group in East Aurora, NY you will be responsible for design and development of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic components and systems that will be used to test the products of Moog, Inc. This position is responsible for design and development of new test equipment, assemblies, and/or processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. You will contribute to the design of test equipment to verify functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles. Your primary concerns are system or component performance and integration…and achieving both within budget and prescribed schedules. You will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, designers, analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments. Facilitative leadership will also be required with program management, quality engineering, and operations. This role will keep you challenged by taking advantage of your knowledge, experience, and skills in technical coordination and communication.

To be considered for the Senior Project Engineer, Test Equipment, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of engineering experience
• 3 years of leading technical projects or technical initiatives
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
• Demonstrated understanding achieved through experience in the design, analysis, development and production of complex electromechanical hardware.
• Self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills, both required to fulfill the demands of design and development of new products.
• Experience with component design, development and verification testing.
• The ability to effectively communicate technical and programmatic information and to manage competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.

As a Senior Project Engineer, Test Equipment, you will:

• Establish and monitor engineering project budgets and schedules.
• Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
• Prepare successful proposal designs, cost estimates, and shoulder the responsibility for writing the technical volume.
• Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
• Coordinate and support the assembly of test equipment.
• Mentor younger engineers where and when appropriate.
• Work closely with the internal program teams to provide the design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture and interface definition, and requirements validation.
• Lead the design process and provide technical leadership within Moog’s program scope.

Salary Range Transparency: Buffalo, NY $115,000.00–$145,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
