Job summary

Milwaukee Tool seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead advanced test development and reliability assessments for power tool products. You will own product testing, analyze life data, and manage requirements across cross-functional teams to ensure durability and performance targets are met.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with design and marketing, and drive data-driven decisions throughout the product development cycle. Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, robotics or related engineering field.
  • Experience with test development, verification, data collection and analytics.
  • HALT and other reliability test methods a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert with respect to product testing, reliability, requirements management and warranty analysis for new product designs and engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define product specifications for life, durability, quality, and user needs.
  • Develop and execute reliability, design, and validation assessments to support successful product introductions based on data driven evidence.
  • Interact with global engineers, suppliers and manufacturing that participate in product commercialization.
  • Track and support multiple projects to ensure adherence to schedule and Milwaukee Tool process.

To learn more about our story click HERE .The Senior Project Engineer will utilize advanced test development and analysis skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. This is a hands-on position where the candidate will be required to gain an understanding in the usage and operation of the tools/equipment under development. Throughout a product's development cycle, this position requires strong cross-functional communication, requirements management, data analytics, and hands-on failure analysis to help launch new and exciting solutions that meet user needs. This is a fast-paced environment full of opportunities for innovation in new product test methods. The senior engineer will also mentor and support less experienced engineers in technical development.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAct as subject matter expert with respect to product testing, reliability, requirements management and warranty analysis for new product designs and engineering changesCollaborate with design engineers and marketing to define the product specifications with respect to product life, durability, quality, and user needsParticipate in, and conduct, design reviews to showcase project status, risks, and system readiness for testing and verification activitiesDevelop and execute reliability, design, and validation assessments to support successful product introductions based on data driven evidenceResponsible for ensuring completion of product qualification test plans, including functional, reliability, and durability testingDevelop test procedures and prove out test methods based on new or established product designs to ensure power tools meet customer requirementsAnalyze and present product usage and risk assessments utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis, reliability distributions and stress-strength analysisEnsure timely failure reporting and perform root cause analysis for issues observed in life testing and/or field useOccasionally join end user research events to identify \"critical to quality\" (CtQ) requirements on mechanical and electrical design featuresInteract with global engineers, suppliers and manufacturing that participate in product commercializationTrack and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool processQualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, robotics or other related engineering field5 or more years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, test or similar functionExperience including systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project teamBackground in test development, verification, data collection and analytics. Experience with HALT and other reliability test methods a plusStrong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEA, hypothesis testing, etc.Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software is a plus (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities.Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledge / Experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction as well as equipment usage is a plusAbility to travel 5-10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.
