Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC seeks an Engineering Manager-Substation to lead the design team across substations projects. This role oversees design, procurement support, and coordination with field operations and clients to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in electric utility engineering, 10+ years of HV substation experience, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
• P.E. license is required.
• Strong leadership and project management experience in electrical substations preferred.
• Experience with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee substations design and project delivery from inception to closeout.
• Lead engineers and designers, provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and high quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and internal teams for project success.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

TheEngineering Manager-Substationwill provide engineeringexpertiseand technical support throughout the project lifecycle and support field operations, customer account management, procurement, and key stakeholder groups within Quanta.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with extensive experience in high voltage substation projects.This positionwillreport tothe Engineering Directorand bethe manager ofthesubstation designteamssupportingsubstationprojects across the QISG platform.

What You'll Do

• Overseeprojects frominceptionto completion,includingplanning, design, constructionsupport, and closeout.
• Supervise a team of engineers, designers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Evaluate andmonitorengineering contractors and consultants.
• Assistinselection, training,coaching of direct reports to build effective teams.
• Assign tasks to project design team based on project needs
• Ensureprojectsare onbudgetand schedule whileensuringcost-effective solutions.
• Overseequality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and materials.
• Ensure project team applies engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI
• Perform quality reviews to check for inaccuracies, omissions, or compliance issues, and provide recommendations.
• Work collaboratively withdesignersand project teams to develop solutions and modifications as needed.
• Bring potential project-related problems andpossible solutionsforthe attention of theparty responsible.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

• Role will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10-25% of the time.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’sdegreein electrical, mechanical, or civilengineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• P.E. licenseisrequired.
• Expert understanding ofthe major components of asubstationisrequired.
• Experience in personnelmanagement.
• Minimum of10years’ experience in the electric utility industry performing detailed engineering for high voltage substation projects.
• Strong technicalexpertisein structural, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards.
• Strong understanding of industry specific software packages.
• Knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.
• Demonstrated experience supporting external customers.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and others.
• Ability to workin a team environment.
• Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multipletasksanddeterminepriorities in a complexenvironment.
