Roles and Responsibilities

Our Client is seeking a Sr Project/Design Engineer in Glastonbury, CT. The Sr Project Engineer is responsible for providing expert daily direction in set-up, trouble shooting, repair and continuous improvement of production equipment. The engineer assures safety aspects of the equipment meets specifications and requirements to assure employees safe working conditions. The engineer is resident expert on production equipment and processes and provides education to engineers, manufacturing and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient product processing. Provide engineering support to develop, direct, and implement the processes, methods and equipment used in the manufacturing department to ensure the company product line is manufacturing in the most cost effective and timely manner while assuring the highest quality.

  • Manage project efforts to achieve FAA Approval on assigned hardware. Activities include development of drawings, measurement and material evaluation of OEM parts using state-of-art equipment and techniques, data analysis, structural analysis, preparation of design substantiation packages, manufacturing development, hardware conformity and customer evaluation support.
  • Formulate vendor substantiation activities for assigned hardware, including the development and qualification of suppliers.
  • Support production of assigned hardware
  • Support New Product Development activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • BSIE, BSME, or BSEE education or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years project and OEM design engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in GD&T per ANSI Y14.5M
  • Lead cross functional teams in international production projects.
  • Requires an in-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, material specification and general industrial operations.
  • Business minded engineer to provide continuous improvements to products and processes.
  • Working Knowledge in FAA Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's)
  • Must be able to develop process and assembly instructions that will assure achieving product quality criteria and customer satisfaction. Product planning, scheduling and justification of required equipment and tooling.
