Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a Sr Program Planning and Scheduling Analyst to lead integrated master schedules for complex programs. The role emphasizes advanced scheduling methods, risk analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with senior stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a DoD background, 6+ years in planning/scheduling, and proficiency with Microsoft Project, EVM concepts, and a Secret clearance. Office or hybrid work arrangement available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree targeting Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project Professional or other similar scheduling tool.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Understanding of DoD contracting policies and DoD acquisition processes.

The Sr Program Planning and Scheduling Analyst serves as a subject matter expert in scheduling, offering strategic oversight for multiple projects or programs. Role involves optimizing scheduling processes, developing advanced scheduling methodologies, and mentoring junior schedulers. Ensures all project schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with the organization's goals. This position requires a deep understanding of scheduling principles and the ability to manage complex schedules effectively. Collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure project timelines are met and contribute to the overall success of the organization's initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation, development, and coordination of integrated master plans and schedules for highly complex projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the tracking and maintenance of project plans and schedules to ensure horizontal and vertical integration across the enterprise.
  • Conduct advanced risk analysis to identify and proactively mitigate schedule risks, ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Identify and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts using Gantt, Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), milestone charts, and other advanced project management techniques.
  • Evaluate schedule compliance and systematically identify reasons for completion shortfalls, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on schedule status to senior stakeholders, providing clear insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive scheduling data, fostering effective communication and coordination.
  • Support program management in developing and implementing advanced scheduling best practices, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide junior and intermediate analysts on advanced scheduling techniques and best practices, fostering their professional development.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree targeting Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications.
  • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project Professional or other similar scheduling tool or similar schedule toolset.
  • Ability to proactively drive conversations and ask detailed questions.
  • Must have excellent follow-up/follow-through skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with multi-faceted teams to drive issues to closure within your domain.
  • Ability to confidently communicate status to completion on workload, and raise roadblocks/issues to team for mitigation.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar schedule toolset.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and systems.
  • Understanding of DCMA 14-point & IPMDAR DI_MGMT-81861.
  • Understanding of Mil Standard 881.
  • Ability to apply Critical Path Analysis and Schedule Risk Analysis.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply Schedule Performance and Health Metric Analysis.
  • Experience in assembling and building Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of engineering design and life cycle concepts.
  • Understanding of Event versus Product based schedules.
  • Understanding of Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development.
  • Understanding of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of resource-loaded integrated master schedules, including detailed schedule analysis, rolling wave planning, health assessments, schedule risk assessments, and critical/driving path analysis.
  • Ability to facilitate resource leveling, validate remaining work, and identify and resolve critical path conflicts.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and teaching.
  • Ability to develop and conduct relevant stakeholder learning sessions.
  • Ability to work across multiple software systems and comprehend system relationships.
  • Foundational understanding of Program Management processes.
  • Knowledge of DoD, government contracting, and/or public auditing policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Willingness to support the development and delivery of key employee training, including new employee onboarding and continuous education curriculum.
  • Oversee the coordination, generation, and integration of Schedule Risk Assessments (SRA) for complex and large-scale projects.
  • Analyze schedule data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver in-depth reports and presentations to senior leadership and customers.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $124,771.42 - $171,560.71. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
