Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

The Supply Chain Launch Program Planner acts as the cross-functional leader and change agent responsible for launching new programs and optimizing current material handling practices. Combining a robust engineering background with a lean mindset, this role designs optimized facility layouts, develops custom material handling equipment, and leads the operational shift toward fork-truck-free environments. The position owns the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology to systematically reconstruct material delivery routes, fine-tune packaging rounding values, and synchronize Kanban cycles. As the lead planner for new programs and materials, this role drives deep cross-functional engagement with product line teams and executes comprehensive cost analysis for new program introductions. Additionally, the role establishes standard work, trains production teams in kitting best practices, and serves as the critical operational bridge ensuring flawless material delivery across the entire supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Analyzes current-state warehousing processes to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize receiving, storage, picking, packing, and staging operations.

  • Layout & Workflow Design: Designs efficient material flow layouts, supermarkets, and zone-picking structures aligned to takt time, pull signals, and ergonomic standards.

  • PFEP & Inventory Control: Develops and maintains the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology to define packaging configurations, min/max levels, and replenishment triggers.

  • Kitting & Line Delivery: Optimizes Just-In-Time (JIT) and Point-of-Use (POU) kitting configurations to improve end-to-end traceability and streamline in-plant movements.

  • Data & KPI Management: Builds KPI dashboards tracking dock-to-dock time, picking accuracy, and inventory metrics using WMS/ERP data via Power BI and Excel.

  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Leads Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives targeting space utilization, labor productivity, and material accuracy.

  • Capacity Modelling & Simulation: Models facility space capacity and simulates future-state flows using tools like AutoCAD or Visio to support organizational growth.

  • Risk Management & Compliance: Conducts PFMEAs and risk assessments on material flows to develop contingency plans and maintain robust internal process controls.

  • Technology Implementation: Evaluates, plans, and commissions material handling technologies, including AGVs, AMRs, pick-to-light systems, and WMS enhancements.

  • Cross-Functional NPI Integration: Partners with Engineering, Operations, and Product Line teams to integrate New Product Introductions (NPI) and ensure engineering change order (ECO) compliance.

Key Performance Measures:

  • On-Time Production Line Launch (Launch Success): Measures the percentage of new programs and materials successfully kitted, flowed, and ready for production by the scheduled launch date with zero material-related line stoppages.

  • Fork-Truck Reduction Percentage (Safety & Layout Engineering): Tracks the percentage of successful transitions from fork-truck material handling to fork-truck-free methods and custom equipment deployment across targeted zones.

  • PFEP Compliance & Route Efficiency (Lean Execution): Evaluates the variance between planned material delivery cycles and actual route execution times, alongside the accuracy of packaging rounding values and Kanban triggers.

  • New Program Launch Cost Variance (Financial Accountability): Measures the accuracy of pre-launch material flow and equipment cost analyses against actual implementation spend for new product introductions.
