SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to:

  • Assist in controlling expenses
  • Provide for the compliance and coordination of the federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements
  • Interpret and enforce company policies
  • Maintain non-union program
  • Assist in the determination of manpower needs and make recommendations
  • Prepare and maintain prescribed records and reports to ensure that they reflect conditions accurately
  • Solve problems in an effective manner with sound follow-up
  • Work with department heads to meet production quality yields goals and metrics goals
  • Ensure the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product
  • Inspect and maintain a high degree of competence in the areas of housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety
  • Manage, evaluate, and train production supervisors
  • Oversee all designated shift operations and any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the plant manager

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High School diploma with equivalent experience or college degree preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related industry experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience in a meat processing facility (pork or beef preferred)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HAACP regulations

Computer Skills:

  • Standard computer skills

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of Team Members from hourly to upper management, as well as government officials

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, hire, and train team members

  • Monitor and appraise work performance
  • Reward, coach, counsel, and discipline team members
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
