Overview
Sr. Production Manager role at Flex in Dallas, TX. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager guides and coordinates activities of employees engaged in multi-level assembly, electronic card/system testing and quality assurance to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
What a typical day looks like
- Guides department activities to influence design of new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and assists with test procedures.
- Explores technology trends and market demand to plan projects.
- Contributes with management, production, and marketing staff to resolve manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
- Forecasts operating costs of the department and directs preparation of budget requests.
- Partners with team and management in the development of the strategic plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for the function.
- Reviews and establishes material, equipment, and manpower resource requirements.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply to meet customer requirements.
- Coordinates production activities with other functional groups such as planning and distribution.
- Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
- Accountable for controlling manufacturing operation and ensuring that production quality and cost targets are met.
- Reviews budgets and schedules required by management.
- Regulates relations with executives and/or major customers to maintain relationships.
- Resolves controversial situations, negotiates with customers, and or influences management levels for the achievements of the plant.
Experience and qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 10 years of operations experience.
- Demonstrates detailed expertise in a very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.
- Demonstrates advanced people and/or process management skills as well as customer relationship skills (external and internal).
- Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
- Proficiency with office software (telephone, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software).
- Demonstrates expert functional, technical, and people/process management skills and customer relationship skills.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
- Demonstrates mastery of expertise in multiple areas and industry.
