OVERVIEW

Vaco Dallas is partnering with a major Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand to hire a Senior Product Manager who will lead the modernization of their POS, KDS, and Payment technology stack. This is a fully remote, direct hire opportunity offering the chance to drive critical enterprise initiatives, steer strategic product roadmaps, manage high-value vendor relationships, and deliver next-generation in-store digital experiences. The organization is currently replacing its legacy POS with a cloud-based, enterprise-focused POS platform, requiring extensive customization and innovation to meet complex operational needs. The ideal candidate will bring deep QSR industry knowledge, strong experience in product management of cloud-based POS platforms (direct experience with Qu, Toast, Revel, or Aloha highly preferred), and a passion for driving technology transformations that elevate both employee efficiency and guest satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Road Mapping & Product Execution

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision for next-generation POS/KDS/Payments, aligned to broader organizational goals.
  • Build and continuously refine multi-phase roadmaps, balancing immediate enhancement needs with longer-term strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and the POS vendor, driving feature definition, prioritization, and delivery quality.
  • Balance 50% backlog management (user stories, grooming, sprint planning) and 50% vendor partnership oversight.

Agile Delivery & Backlog Management

  • Operate within a 2-week Agile sprint framework, craft actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint priorities.
  • Leverage operational data from Qu systems to drive data-informed product decisions and prioritization.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Operations, IT, Marketing, Finance) to capture business needs and align on solutions.
  • Manage vendor performance and foster a collaborative working relationship with vendors product and engineering teams.
  • Coordinate external vendor deliverables, ensuring alignment with contractual SLAs, milestones, and quality expectations.
  • Partner on integration efforts for in-store loyalty programs, drive-thru innovations, and future custom kiosk solutions.
  • Oversee POS system replacement and expansion efforts across multiple restaurant locations.
  • Direct technical integration planning for order management, menu architecture, and store information access.
  • Establish operational standards for monitoring, reliability (SLOs), and data observability across integrations.
  • Support enhancements to meet evolving enterprise requirements beyond POS out-of-the-box capabilities.
  • Champion exceptional user experiences for both team members and guests interacting with the new systems.
  • Drive a continuous feedback loop from store-level and corporate stakeholders to ensure product-market fit.

Team Culture and Fit

  • Team chemistry and interpersonal collaboration are critical success factors.
  • Must be proactive, solutions-driven, and excited to partner with a fast-paced, innovative-driven team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Product Management roles, preferably focused on enterprise restaurant technologies.
  • 5+ years leading cloud-based POS/KDS/Payment implementations or replacements within the QSR space.
  • Proven experience managing external vendors and balancing in-house and third-party development streams.
  • Hands-on experience with backlog management, user story development, and Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with POS integration to back-office systems and data reporting frameworks.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of enterprise-level restaurant operations and technology needs.
  • Skilled in strategic road mapping, vendor negotiation, user story creation, and cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical mindset; ability to leverage platform data for informed decision-making.
  • Superior communication skills, able to bridge technical and business teams seamlessly.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex technical programs under tight timelines.

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Direct experience with Qu POS is a significant bonus.
  • Familiarity with other cloud-native POS solutions (e.g., Toast, Revel, Aloha) strongly preferred.
  • Experience enhancing or customizing POS systems to fit enterprise-level requirements.
  • Background working within large-scale Agile organizations and matrixed environments.
