Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking a Sr. Procurement Specialist to join our team in our manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach. As a Sr. Procurement Specialist for Dorman, youwill provide procurement direction to the Cross Functional Teams and Procurement Department to ensure optimal sourcing decisions for complex and/or critical categories with little to no oversight. This role will be onsite initially to learn about our products, understand our manufacturing process, and get to know the team. Once training is complete, this will be a hybrid role, in the office 1 - 2 days / week. Primary Duties

  • Develop strategic initiatives that monitor and improve Supplier performance by creating and executing corrective action and continuous improvement plans.

  • Mentor and coach the other procurement specialist on the team.

  • Aligning Product/Engineering strategies with sourcing strategies.

  • Keeping Asia Contributors aware and involved in our sourcing strategies and leveraging them when necessary.

  • Challenging the suppliers on costing when appropriate.

  • Stocking program management, optimization and recommendations.

  • ROI procurement decisions- challenging decisions where appropriate.

  • Roll out new processes for procurement specialists.

  • Work with planning to recommend any hedge buy/ safety stock updates/ mrp controller changes based on supplier knowledge.

  • Identify and develop sourcing plans for key commodities and/or products using strategic thinking and cross functional collaboration.

  • Identify and deliver cost reduction commitments through the identification and development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • Evaluate and select suppliers to support both new product development and cost savings initiatives based on total cost and performance analysis.

  • Identify and negotiate with suppliers to provide the best pricing, serviceability and quality leveraging tools such as commodity trends and market conditions.

  • Develop and manage suppliers to monitor and achieve Corporate Goals which include Fill Rate, Inventory reductions, Cost savings & Sales.

  • Develop solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation utilizing business and/or data management tools.

  • Support development and deployment of a Supplier Relationship Management program to manage all interactions with suppliers and ensures alignment with company and product strategies.

  • Facilitate clear and timely written or verbal communication, escalating critical where required and providing solutions to management.

  • Maintain and update reports of progress and provide an analysis of projects as required by the Procurement and/or Cross Functional Team.

  • Participate as a cross functional team member, actively working toward successful implementation and completion of team goals and objectives

  • Required to maintain system data through Team and functional processes.



Qualifications

  • Must be detail oriented, highly organized, resourceful, and work well within a team environment.

  • Ability to initiate, communicate and action to resolve issues both internally and externally.

  • Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite -advanced Excel skills preferred.

  • Proficiency within ERP/MRP environments.

  • Ability to integrate with the cultural environment of the global supply base and Dorman international Offices.

  • Ability to network within a cross functional environment.

  • Must adhere to and maintain ethical business standards and make unbiased business decisions.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes.

  • SAP, Business Objects, and automotive / electronics background preferred.


Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in one or more of the following disciplines: Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, and 2+ years' Procurement related experience preferred OR

  • Associate's degree with 4+ years' Procurement related experience

  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 3+ years' experience working with both domestic and overseas suppliers
