Overview

Role Overview:

As a Senior Subcontract Procurement Manager supporting M.C. Dean's growing businesses, you will be responsible for managing construction industry subcontracts and services spends in support of the SCS division. This role will require 30-50% travel to job sites (with approximately 60% of sites within 100 miles of Washington DC). The core objectives are:

  • Functioning as a key liaison between the Procurement team and internal stakeholders including MC Dean's Executive Team, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Working closely with the core Program/Project teams to manage high visibility and high value programs, applying program/project management skills to ensure the timely and efficient execution of MC Dean's project portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Procurement planning during the bidding phase, including understanding contract specifications and estimated bills of material.
  • Developing comprehensive RFPs or RFQs for each vendor package, identifying all components of value and total acquisition costs.
  • Sourcing, prequalifying, and evaluating vendors for each procurement package.
  • Tracking, analyzing, and comparing quotes, and working with project and engineering teams to confirm scope completeness.
  • Negotiating and finalizing agreements, and finalizing procurement plans aligned with estimates.
  • Post-award procurement planning and execution, including transitioning procurement plans to project teams, monitoring deliveries, and closing out procurement activities.
  • Incorporating market conditions into procurement strategies, such as pricing trends, lead times, and alternative products.
  • Researching and developing long-term agreements to streamline procurement and reduce costs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 10-12 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with OEMs, subcontractors, and fabricators.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Understanding of business, finance, and accounting principles.

  • Physical dexterity and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Reading and understanding written information, and applying rules to solve problems.
