Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, SCM, or finance; master’s preferred.
  • 3–10 years in procurement, sourcing, or supplier engineering.
  • Strong background in electrical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and value engineering.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP, sourcing tools, and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical sourcing for electrical, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Project Managers and Manufacturing Engineering to translate requirements into supplier specs.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on capability, cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering for cost reduction.
  • Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and specs to ensure compliance.
  • Support NPI by identifying qualified suppliers and managing sourcing from concept to production.
  • Partner with teams to resolve issues, manage change orders, and align suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms to optimize cost, lead time, and service levels.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive development or corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on market trends and new materials.

Position Overview

TheSenior Buyer / Senior Procurement Engineerplays a key role in bridgingengineering and procurement functions, ensuring that all sourced materials, components, and systems meet technical specifications, cost targets, and quality standards. This position is ideal for amechanical or electrical engineerwith strong analytical, supplier management, and cost-optimization skills who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing or technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical sourcing activities for electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Project Managers and Manufacturing Engineering to translate engineering requirements into supplier specifications.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical capability, cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure supplier compliance.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by identifying qualified suppliers and managing sourcing from concept to production.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, manage change orders, and maintain supplier alignment.
  • Negotiate commercial and technical terms to achieve optimal cost, lead time, and service levels.
  • Monitor supplier performance and lead supplier development or corrective action initiatives as needed.
  • Stay current on market trends, new materials, and emerging technologies relevant to assigned categories.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Finance (Master’s preferred).
  • 3-10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supplier engineering within a manufacturing or engineering-focused industry.
  • Strong technical background in electrical and/or mechanical systems, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and value engineering.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, sourcing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen and to able to obtain security clearance
