Job description

Sr. Process Safety Engineer - OGC Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our OGC Engineering team at Kiewit. The role involves leading process safety initiatives, reviewing engineering work, and ensuring compliance with standards in refining and petrochemical projects. The position is based in Houston, TX, with flexible work options and less than 25% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex process safety assignments and projects, ensuring standards are correctly applied.
  • Review and correct engineering documents related to vapor dispersion, radiation, LOPA, SIL verification, and PHA actions.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Develop and improve safety standards, philosophies, and design practices.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced engineers.
  • Interpret and apply codes and standards, leading project teams through scope changes and quality checks.
  • Contribute to client proposals and project estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in the refining and petrochemical industry.
  • Proven leadership and ability to guide teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and departments.

  • Willingness to work overtime and at various locations as needed.
