Job summary

IFF Nutrition & Biosciences seeks a Senior Technician II to drive routine lab tasks, fermentation setup, and pilot-scale investigations at our Madison, WI facility. You will support development of cost-effective manufacturing conditions, update data records, and analyze culture performance to guide improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, bioprocess, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical/process engineering.
• Fundamental understanding of lactic acid bacteria physiology, freeze-drying, and microbial fermentations, plus process equipment functioning (preferred).
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to independently design, execute, and report scientific experiments.
• Familiarity with project management, Six Sigma Green Belt tools, and data management/software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine lab tasks and experimental work as directed; include media making, microbiology, fermentation setup, inoculation, and cell evaluation.
• Support lab-scale development of cost-effective manufacturing conditions affecting cell yield, stability, quality, or activity.
• Update and maintain data sets and laboratory batch tickets.
• Perform statistical analysis on culture performance and communicate trends.
• Investigate and support product deviations.
• Coordinate/oversee pilot-scale manufacturing of experimental products and write trial reports.
• Follow process data and product quality after industrialization; troubleshoot issues.
• Assist transfer of processes/products from R&D to production in collaboration with teams.
• Document results in lab notebooks and share with supervisor.
