Job summary

Kohler in Kohler, WI is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer to lead process equipment, materials handling, and slurry systems from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience leading complex process, equipment, manufacturing, plant-system, or capital projects with broad business impact.
• Expertise in process equipment or industrial systems, including design, integration, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Experience independently managing multiple complex projects with scope, schedule, budget, resources, procurement, risks, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong knowledge of bulk materials handling and process-fluid systems (storage, conveying, pumps, piping, tanks, mixers).
• Ability to develop and review calculations, layouts, process flow diagrams, specifications, utility requirements, and commissioning docs.
• Leadership across functions/sites, mentoring, and communicating with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority and project leader for process equipment, bulk material transfer, storage, batching, pumping, conveying, piping, tanks, silos, mixers, slurry distribution, utilities, and controls.
• Lead engineering and capital projects from concept through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, validation, and handoff.
• Define and manage scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, milestones, requirements, specs, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder communications.
• Develop engineering solutions balancing safety, quality, throughput, reliability, maintainability, cost, schedule, and flexibility.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage external partners, suppliers, contractors, and system integrators.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments, supplier evaluations, and factory acceptance testing; oversee commissioning readiness and handover.
• Monitor performance; address variances with tradeoffs, recovery plans, and escalation as needed.
• Resolve complex technical issues via structured analysis and root-cause investigation; apply contingency planning.
• Influence capital decisions through lifecycle-cost evaluation and risk-based recommendations.
• Establish standards, mentor engineers, and communicate decisions to technical teams and senior leaders.
