Job summary

System One is seeking an experienced engineer to lead aseptic process design, installation, and optimization across dairy processing lines. You will drive root-cause problem solving, CAPA activities, and CAPEX justification for capital investments in a regulated food manufacturing setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Process/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering and 5–7 years of GMP-regulated experience, with strong data analysis, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of engineering experience in aseptic processing or a related regulated environment (GMP, FDA, ISO, OSHA, USDA).
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving methods.
  • Skilled in data analysis and loss deployment.
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical, process, and automation issues.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of control systems: Allen Bradley, Siemens, and B&R.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, install, commission, maintain, and improve low-acid aseptic process and equipment.
  • Provide process and engineering support across dairy receiving, batching, pasteurization, aseptic filling, and packaging.
  • Identify root causes of manufacturing failures using structured problem-solving methods and apply fixes.
  • Support CAPA initiatives for regulatory compliance to USDA and FDA standards.
  • Improve equipment data collection, utilization, efficiency, and obsolescence management.
  • Develop and review SOPs, batch records, validation protocols, and change control documents.
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting during process scale-up and implementation.
  • Monitor and maintain utility systems (e.g., RO water) for optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards; support process investigations and change controls.
  • Create equipment/process specifications, drawings, and software as needed.
  • Develop project justifications and proposals for capital investments.
  • Provide technical training to department employees and others involved.
  • Monitor production and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

  • Lead, design, install, commission, maintain, and improve low-acid aseptic process and equipment. Implement and maintain plant equipment, systems, and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide process and engineering support across the operation, including dairy receiving, batching/blending, pasteurization, UHT processing, aseptic filling, and packaging equipment.
  • Identify root causes of manufacturing failures using structured problem-solving methodologies (fishbone, 8D); apply fixes to prevent recurrence.
  • Support CAPA initiatives for regulatory compliance, ensuring processes meet USDA and FDA standards.
  • Improve equipment data collection, utilization, efficiency, and obsolescence management. Collaborate cross-functionally to execute projects successfully.
  • Develop and review process documentation, including SOPs, batch records, validation protocols, and change control documents.
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting during process scale-up and implementation.
  • Monitor and maintain utility systems (e.g., RO water systems) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards; support process investigations and change controls.
  • Create equipment/process specifications, drawings, and software as needed.
  • Develop project justifications and proposals for capital investments.
  • Provide technical training to department employees and others involved.
  • Monitor production and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-7 years of engineering experience in aseptic processing or a related regulated environment (GMP, FDA, ISO, OSHA, USDA).
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Skilled in data analysis and loss deployment.
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical, process, and automation issues.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of software systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, B&R), HMIs, and alarms.
  • Extensive understanding of engineering principles and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and work with equipment containing electromagnetic components.
  • Ability to work prolonged periods at a desk and computer.
