Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced industrial process engineer for opportunistic roles across the Midwest and Virginia. The position involves leading cross-functional teams, optimizing processes, and supporting plant startup and commissioning activities. Expect extensive travel up to 75% as projects span multiple sites.

Candidates should have 7–10+ years in process engineering, a B.S. in Engineering, and experience with heat and material balances, process optimization, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Requires 7–10+ years of hands-on industrial process engineering experience.
• B.S. in Engineering required; Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
• Experience with heat & material balances, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Process design, commissioning, startup, and plant support experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Develop and test new technologies and process improvements.
• Analyze plant data to improve efficiency and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Lead field trials, proof-of-concept testing, and technology implementation.
• Support capital projects from concept through startup and commissioning.
• Work with operations, engineering, vendors, and customers on process improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Location: Various locations in the Midwest and Virginia

Travel: Up to 75%

Pay Rate: 110K-165K (negotiable based on experience)

Musts (qualifications):

• 7-10+ years of hands-on industrial process engineering experience
• B.S. in Engineering required, Chemical Engineering preferred
• Experience with heat & material balances, process optimization, and troubleshooting
• Process design, commissioning, start-up, and plant support experience
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering and operations teams
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%)

Plusses:

• Chemical Engineering degree
• Process modeling software experience
• Technology development, R&D, or pilot testing experience
• Laboratory experience and statistical analysis
• Foundry coke, steel, chemical, manufacturing, or energy industry experience
