Job description

Designs, implements, and supports electrical and control systems in a manufacturing environment. Applies electrical and controls engineering principles to improve equipment reliability, implement innovative automation solutions, and support business objectives. Manages projects from concept through commissioning, working independently or as part of a team, with a high level of technical judgment and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee installation of electrical and control systems for manufacturing equipment, including 480V three-phase, 120V single-phase, 24VDC power, PLCs, and industrial networks
  • Develop electrical layouts, schematics, and documentation; prepare purchase requisitions for materials and labor
  • Supervise and support installation, commissioning, and startup of equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, and control systems using schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Support and optimize PLCs, I/O, communications, servo drives, motion control systems, and related automation equipment
  • Implement and commission new automation technologies to meet operational needs
  • Evaluate new equipment requirements, estimate costs, and support project approval and execution
  • 30%-40% Travel would be required
  • Additional locations for this role to be based out of are : Elmira, NY or Shakopee, MN
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred; 710 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required. Controls engineering experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proven project management and advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to travel 3040%.
  • Strong PC skills, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000), HMI platforms (Proface, FactoryTalk View ME/SE), VFDs (PowerFlex 525, Yaskawa V1000, Leroy Somer DigiDrive), and industrial networking equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Root Cause Analysis and develop corrective action plans.
  • Experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting automation and motion control systems.
  • Preferred experience with glass manufacturing equipment, including Emhart, Heye, Tiama, and automated palletizers.
