Extreme Networks is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Cloud Platform in San Jose, CA. The role is hybrid and full-time, with onsite presence three days per week at the San Jose office.

You will design, develop, and mentor across cloud-based networking solutions, shaping architecture and platform strategies. You will lead cross-functional teams, apply deep knowledge of software development, cloud platforms, networking, and DevOps practices, and drive innovations that deliver scalable outcomes

Position type: Hybrid - Full time ( As part of our hybrid work arrangement, this role is expected to be onsite three days per week at our San Jose, CA office)

Position reports to: Director of SW Systems Engineering

Job Description:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products. Develops software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and / or influences hardware design. This job should be matched by companies that develop systems software. Firms that have both applications and systems software engineers and cannot identify them by function should match to Software Development Engineer (EN.SODE.P). Software development engineers using common development methodologies including Waterfall and Agile should be matched to our software development engineering roles. Employees focused on ensuring products (including websites) and hosted networks are designed and developed to be cyber-safe and compliant are typically matched to one of our software development engineering roles. For cloud databases, may be matched to Data Management - Storage Engineer (TE.DMSE.P) or for hosted networks, to Network Engineering (TE.INNE.P) or Network Systems Administration (TE.INNS.P). Employees focused on administering and hardening internal processes and systems against outside penetration and attack, match to Information Security (TE.ICIO.P).
