Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

This position is for the Structural Analysis Engineer with emphasis in Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), reporting to MBD/Analysis manager. The successful candidate will be a part of the growing team of MBD engineers who are responsible for motion simulations of various on-orbit servicing and robotics operations, as well as detailed kinematics simulations of underlying mechanical/mechatronics systems.

Essential Functions:

As a MBD engineer, he/she will use expert knowledge of MBD, as well as structural dynamics, to provide design guidance to the programs and systems/subsystems engineering teams.

  1. The assignment might also involve testing of prototypes and flight hardware, and simulation model correlations.
  2. The job will require strong understanding of computational methods and ability to process and produce reliable interpretations of complex simulation/test data.
  3. The assignments will also include Finite Element Analysis tasks (stress/strength, vibration, and loads analyses).
  4. As an expert of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), the candidate's tasks, up to 10% of the total work hours, might involve maintenance/deployment of engineering applications and computational resources, including specialized computational desktops and servers.

The physical job location is Dulles, Virginia.
