Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

This position can also be worked from Elkton, Maryland and Ronkonkoma, New York locations. The PS&C unit designs and produces advanced propulsion systems for government and commercial programs, overseeing integration of ramjets, scramjets and other air-breathing propulsion technologies.

Qualifications

• Mechanical design of moderately complex structural components and systems.
• Experience applying analytical methods to design problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction, with supporting input from relevant subject matter experts
• Apply theoretical knowledge, engineering techniques, and test data to the solution of more complex components, structures, and sub-assemblies
• Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems
• Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution
• Document results of design activities and release results after review from other engineers

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our team at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit. This position can also be worked from the Elkton, Maryland and Ronkonkoma, New York locations.

The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air-breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air-breathing propulsion systems.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is located a very short distance from the Atlantic Ocean. You would be close to many top beaches, fishing, inland eco-tours, shopping, and restaurants. Job Summary

Perform mechanical design of one or more moderately complex structural components and functional systems of company products. Generally, work from preliminary studies developed by higher graded engineers. Analyze requirements for materials, structural components, or functional systems. Select applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs and requirements of other portions of the product. Oversee and guide work performed by junior engineers. Develop original ideas and elaborate on preliminary design concepts. Evaluate completed design with supervisor and other technical groups and make modification necessary to achieve an ideal design.
