Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our team at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit.

This position may also be worked from Elkton, Maryland and Ronkonkoma, New York locations. The PS&C unit designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems for a variety of government and commercial customers, and the Palm Beach Gardens site specializes in ramjets, scramjets, and other

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in STEM with design experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction, with input from SMEs.
• Apply theoretical knowledge, engineering techniques, and test data to complex components, structures, and sub-assemblies.
• Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems.
• Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution.
• Document results of design activities and release results after review from other engineers.
• Make recommendations for improving own work and/or group’s work.
• Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on projects.
• Ensure product line adheres to contractual and technical data package requirements.
• Ensure communications with internal and external teams across the program portfolio.
• Lead engineering efforts to accomplish major milestones (design reviews, TIs, test design reviews, readiness reviews).
• Support earned value performance tracking of programs in the portfolio.
