Pierce Manufacturing is dedicated to making a difference in people's lives through innovative and reliable trucks designed for tough conditions. We seek an experienced and motivated candidate to identify and implement new manufacturing technologies that enhance capabilities and capacity within our factories. The Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer will oversee planning, development, and deployment of new technologies aimed at operational efficiency in our Vocational segment factories. This includes supporting the integration of capital equipment, controls, vision systems, robotics, and continuous improvement projects. The role involves collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to complete development, installation, and commissioning of new technology projects.

Your Impact

  • Conduct investigative and analytical studies on process innovations to improve factory operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in industry seminars and conferences to identify megatrends and new technologies.
  • Identify and support the creation of business cases for new manufacturing technologies and innovations.
  • Lead validation of operational efficiency assumptions for deployed technologies, ensuring capacity and capability needs are met.
  • Research, develop, and deploy digital manufacturing initiatives (Industry 4.0 and IIoT), leading proof of concept studies.
  • Collaborate with Operations Engineering on technology scope, quotes, negotiations, design reviews, and acceptance testing.
  • Drive technological maturity and adoption across factories.
  • Participate in strategic project reviews, scenario planning, and validation activities.
  • Apply project management skills to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Coordinate with other departments to align solutions with quality, safety, ergonomic, and throughput targets.
  • Participate in manufacturing design reviews with Product Development.
  • Utilize statistical methods to analyze data and validate concepts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in production technologies and process innovations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Desire to stay updated with latest technologies.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process evaluation.
  • Project management experience.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies such as vision systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Creo, or SolidWorks.

Pay Range

$102,800.00 - $176,800.00, reflecting the range across U.S. locations, with individual pay determined by experience, education, and skills. We offer a comprehensive rewards package and support for growth and success.
