Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for the Sunnyvale, California manufacturing site.

Key Roles And Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments, including exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents, ergonomics hazard assessment.
  • Create and update Job Hazards Analyses based on hazard assessments to identify enhancements to engineering controls, PPE, training, and safe operating procedures.
  • Complete ergonomic evaluations for industrial and office settings to reduce musculoskeletal risks.
  • Conduct injury and near miss investigations promptly.
  • Assess air quality concerns regularly.
  • Review chemicals and hazardous materials for safe use, storage, and disposal.
  • Perform internal compliance inspections to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in improving the safety culture and EHS awareness across the site.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies, senior management, site personnel, and program managers.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit reports to stakeholders, databases, and agencies.
  • Develop and update EHS plans and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain EHS programs aligned with regulations and internal policies, including occupational health programs like hearing conservation, respiratory protection, hazard communication, and laser/RF safety.
  • Apply for permits and renewals as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on safety measures for test plans, especially involving lasers and RF.
  • Support integration of EHS into process design, construction, and modifications.
  • Coordinate and conduct EHS training sessions for employees.
  • Review environmental, health, and safety regulations for applicability and impact.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS; or a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring—noise, air sampling.
  • Experience with laser and RF safety, chemical standards (OSHA), ventilation.
  • Experience conducting ergonomic assessments.
  • Proficiency with Tableau, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and metrics management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
