Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking a pricing analyst with strong analytical skills to support revenue growth through data-driven pricing and rate structures. You will collaborate with firm partners, Pricing leadership, BD, Marketing, and billing operations to develop proposals and optimize profitability.

You will mentor Pricing Analysts, develop pricing models, and participate in strategic initiatives across the firm. A hybrid U.S.

Qualifications

• Degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of directly related experience in financial analysis, billing, or similar work.
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP and PivotTables.

Responsibilities

• Develop rate proposals, fee estimates and pricing options in response to client RFPs and ad-hoc requests.
• Identify rate renewal opportunities and obtain approvals before submission.
• Mentor Pricing Analysts and provide direction to the team.
• Build pricing models to assess profitability and explore alternative fee arrangements.
• Analyze historical matters to identify key drivers of fee magnitude for pricing models.
• Support development of systems and processes for pricing, discounts and billing rate renewals.
• Ensure billing setup captures pricing arrangements and client notes accurately.
• Communicate progress and risks to Pricing leadership in a timely manner.
• Contribute to special projects aligned with firm strategic initiatives.

Summary

This position provides support to the generation of revenue through analyzing historical data and performance to advise on profitable arrangements and rate structures. Works closely with firm partners, Pricing leadership, Business Development, Marketing, Legal Project Management, Billing Operations, and Staff Leadership. Resolves complex data & reports to develop a story & advise on forward options. Manages multiple projects and initiatives as needed.

Location

This position can sit in any of our U.S. offices and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with Firm Partners, Business Development/Pitch Team, and Pricing Leadership to develop rate proposals, fee estimates and pricing options in response to client RFP’s and ad-hoc requests.
• Interacts with Firm Partners and internal rates team to identify rate renewal opportunities, develop proposals, receive Practice Group approval and communicate/submit per the relevant deadline(s).
• Mentors, supports and provides direction to Pricing Analysts on team.
• Develop models to assess financial impact and profitability of pricing proposals, and assist in the development of creative, workable pricing solutions in response to client demands, including alternative fee arrangements.
• Perform historical analytics of matters in coordination with firm partners/attorneys to identify key risks and drivers of fee magnitude to build robust pricing models for broader implementation.
• Participate in the development of systems, tools, budgeting templates and processes to support pricing, discounting and billing rate renewals.
• Work with Billing/Rates, New Business Intake and Firm Partners to ensure billing system setup and documentation of clients/matters captures intended pricing arrangements, rates, and other relevant client notes.
• Compiles and communicates relevant progress, wins, risks to Pricing/Firm Leadership in a timely manner.
• Work on special projects in support of the Firm’s strategic initiatives.
• Performs other duties and ad-hoc analyses as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field

Physical Demands

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $89,991 - $143,088 depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
