Job summary

AIS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer or Senior Power Platform Engineer in the Washington, DC area. You will design, implement, and govern Power Platform solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse, while collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams.

Qualified applicants have 5–8 years with Power Apps/Power Automate, 1+ year Power BI/SharePoint, a BS degree, and strong JavaScript/HTML/CSS skills. A Top Secret clearance is required and SCI eligibility is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
  • 5–8 years experience with Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • 1+ year of Power BI and SharePoint experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (additional 4 years may substitute).
  • Strong Dataverse data modeling and relational structures.
  • Experience with PCF controls and external connectors.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS; modern JS frameworks.
  • Experience with C# plugins for Power Apps and ALM.
  • Security governance, environment strategies, and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power Platform solutions across Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
  • Lead architecture sessions and translate requirements into scalable designs.
  • Implement data models, relationships, and business rules.
  • Build connectors, integrate systems, and optimize API integrations in M365/Azure.
  • Develop PCF controls and extensibility components with JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Governance, ALM, and secure deployment through DevOps pipelines.
  • Lead workshops with stakeholders and document designs and diagrams.
  • Mentor teammates and review code for quality and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and analysts on platform strategy.
  • Create technical documentation and solution diagrams.

Senior Software Engineer – Overview
  • Core Knowledge & Skills: Works across multiple languages and platforms, designs and implements architectural decisions, applies design patterns, cloud‑native services, IAAS/PAAS/SAAS basics, and secure coding practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
  • Work & Complexity: Performs complex tasks under limited guidance, integrates and troubleshoots distributed or cloud services, and optimizes performance and scalability.
  • Quality & Independence: Sets a high bar for code quality, multitasks effectively, owns and corrects errors quickly, and drives continuous improvement.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Leads code reviews, mentors teammates, and translates technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Consulting & Engagement: Works directly with clients without oversight, writes technical RFP content when needed, nurtures client relationships, and manages routine client concerns.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced solutions using Power Apps (Canvas and Model‑Driven), Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power BI.
  • Lead architectural design sessions and translate business requirements into scalable, well‑structured Power Platform solutions.
  • Implement robust data models, relationships, and business rules using Dataverse and other connected data sources.
  • Build custom connectors, integrate external systems, and optimize API‑based integrations across the M365 and Azure ecosystems.
  • Develop and deploy Power Apps Component Framework (PCF) controls and other extensibility components using JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Establish and enforce Power Platform governance, including environment strategy, ALM processes, and security best practices.
  • Manage solution lifecycle through source control, DevOps pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
  • Perform code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high‑quality, maintainable solutions.
  • Lead workshops, discovery sessions, and technical discussions with business stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and business analysts to refine requirements and shape platform strategy.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and solution diagrams.
Required For This Opportunity
  • Active Top Secret clearance required with ability to obtain SCI.
  • 5–8 years experience building solutions using Power Apps (Canvas & Model‑Driven) and Power Automate.
  • 1+ year of experience with Power BI and SharePoint.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of the Degree).
  • Strong proficiency with Dataverse, data modeling, and relational data structures.
  • Experience developing Power Apps Component Framework (PCF) controls.
  • Experience in creating and consuming custom connectors and integrating external systems.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, such as React, Angular, or Vue, and Node.js.
  • Experience with developing, packaging, and deploying C# plugins for extending business logic in Power Apps applications.
  • Solid understanding of solution layering, ALM, and managed/unmanaged solution strategies.
  • Experience implementing role‑based security, environment strategies, and governance best practices.
  • Experience integrating Power Platform with Azure services (e.g., Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Key Vault).
  • Ability to design scalable, enterprise‑grade Power Platform architectures.
  • Ability to evaluate business requirements, perform gap analyses, and propose modern solution architectures.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines, Git‑based deployments, and automated solution deployment strategies.
  • Design intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interfaces that enhance user experience.
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide insights and data visualization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications (e.g., PL‑100, PL‑200, PL‑400).
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 and Azure services.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Compensation

The targeted base salary range for this role is $100,000–$150,000 per year. This range is a guideline; the final offer will be based on several factors, including skill set, experience, education, certifications, and location.
