About the Job
Position Summary

At MedStar Health, the Senior Planning Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the future of our health system. This position partners closely with leaders to analyze healthcare market data, identify growth opportunities, and translate insights into clear, actionable strategies that guide executive decision-making.

In this role, you’ll go beyond reporting numbers—you’ll help answer the why, where, and what's next for service line growth, ambulatory expansion, and long-term strategic planning across the organization. You’ll work with sophisticated data tools, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and present findings to executive audiences.

This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic, intellectually curious analyst who wants their work to have real-world impact on patient access, care delivery, and the future direction of a leading healthcare system.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses to support strategic, business, and operational planning.
  • Develop market intelligence deliverables including market share analyses, market scans, competitive intelligence, and opportunity sizing.
  • Support system-wide initiatives such as service line growth planning, ambulatory network planning, facility planning, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Leverage internal and external data platforms (e.g., Sg2, Buxton, state data); serve as a subject-matter expert or “super-user” for designated tools.
  • Prepare and present executive-ready materials in PowerPoint, Excel, and written formats.
  • Mentor and support analysts; contribute to standard processes and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business, Finance, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • 3–5 years of healthcare-related quantitative analytic experience in strategic planning, finance, or service line operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, lookups, macros) and strong PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, mapping, or business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting to leadership.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and attention to detail.

This position has a hiring range of USD $71,843.00 - USD $135,907.00 /Yr.
