Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Virginia is seeking a Sr Planning Analyst to optimize production schedules and inventory management. You will balance customer demand with capacity, develop and maintain production plans, and work with Planning, Operations, Quality, Procurement and PM teams to ensure schedule stability and high service levels.

The role is fully onsite at our Richmond Lab. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years experience are expected, with APICS and Six Sigma preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

Join our Planning Analyst team as a Sr Planning Analyst at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll optimize production schedules and inventory management to support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. In this role, you'll develop and maintain production plans that balance customer demand with capacity, while ensuring efficiency and resource utilization. You'll work collaboratively with Planning, Operations, Quality, Procurement and Project Management teams to support schedule stability and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires analytical skills and strategic thinking to optimize complex production schedules while maintaining high service levels.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
• Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent.
• APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

i n some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong understanding of MRP principles, capacity planning, and inventory management
• Experience with Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP/S&OP) processes
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and optimize production schedules for efficiency
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑oriented environment
• Experience with production scheduling software and manufacturing execution systems
• Strong problem-solving abilities and process improvement mindset
• Knowledge of GMP and quality systems preferred
• Project management experience preferred
• Ability to work independently
• Experience guiding schedule adherence and resolving conflicts
• Experience developing and maintaining planning parameters and master data
• Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics reporting

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Virginia is $75,800.00–$113,675.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
